Announcement:  SAVE THE DATE!

A VAVCL Summit is scheduled for July 9, 2009 at George Mason University

VAVCL Initiative

Background

In late April of 2007, the CIOs of the Commonwealth of Virginia met at the ACCS Spring 2007 Annual Workshop.  One of the topics of discussion was virtual computing labs.  In follow-up to that discussion, interest was expressed in creating a virtual computing lab to support higher education across the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Institutions that participate in the VAVCL initiative might be able to:

-leverage the partnership to eliminate duplication of services

-ease the difficult task of managing and tracking the use of discipline specific applications, and

-bargain more effectively with software vendors.
